How Smithville At The Shore Chapter Began

After Sue moved to Smithville at the Jersey shore and invited her old neighborhood friends to lunch at her new house, Nancy, told Sue that Carol, Nancy's friend who Sue had met at Nancy's family parties, lived in her new neighborhood. What a delightful development that was! And, luckily for all, Carol was able to join them for lunch.

As part of the lunch conversation, Carol and Sue realized they both were avid listeners of the Bill Bennett talk show, Morning in America. There wasn't enough time that day to really discuss all that they wanted to discuss about the show or the topics Dr Bennett covered on it, so they did the same thing that SMIA founders Jenny and Janet had done earlier--they made a date to meet on Saturday at a local eatery for breakfast and political conversation.

Soon they were meeting weekly and inviting others to join them. That was in 2007. Today they meet monthly, occasionally more often, with friends who share politics and conservative values to discuss the news of the day. There is no expert at our meetings, and we each have input into our discussions. We do not all agree on everything, but we have a friendly environment where we encourage each other to participate in every discussion.
